Dukes Wood Nature Reserve was given by
British Petroleum to the Nottinghamshire Trust for Nature which was
formed in 1963 to protect the County's Wildlife and to stimulate
interest in it amongst adults and children alike. Links between BP and
Nottinghamshire Trust for Nature go back many years, notably through Sir
Peter Kent, formerly BP's Chief Geologist, who was the Trust's President
for two years before his untimely death in 1986. The Trust and BP
welcome you to Dukes Wood and hope that your visit will add to your
knowledge of Nottinghamshire's rich natural and Industrial
history.
